Short term goals

  • Provide support to the church/vestry where needed
  • Become more involved with the Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

Long term goals

  • Focus on Growing the Christ Church congregation
  • Support higher education by continuing with a scholarship fund
  • Provide networking opportunities for people in transition
  • Maintain an outreach program to assist families in need

I think the WWP members will all agree that 2023 was a phenomenal year. It may well have been our most successful year thus far. Most successful, not because our fundraising events were extremely profitable, but because we met 2 of our short-term goals and 3 of our long-term goals.

Our members worked extremely hard, successfully taking on new projects and challenges. We partnered with the South Amboy business community and held our first Prom Dress Giveaway. Not only did we make 30 plus young ladies happy, but we also gained new members to our church and group. Both the Tea Party and Caribbean Night fundraising events were more profitable than previous years together bringing in over $4,000. We had an incredible turnout at both, and it became necessary to add tables and chairs to accommodate guests in attendance.

Our outreach also rose to new levels in 2023 and valued more than $4,000. At one point there was concern if we were going to be able meet the wish list of the 31 children over the holidays. But thanks to the support of our Christ Church family and friends as far as Rochester, New York we managed to provide aid to those needing a little help at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Trinity, our sister church, came through again with the coats and we donated over 40 coats to local school districts. Singing at the Venetian for the holidays was as usual a source of joy, all residents were pleased with their gifts.

Our annual Community Scholarship also saw a near record number of 13 entries. The scholarship amount was increased to $600 from $500. The 2023 scholarship was awarded to Isabella Vargas. South Amboy and Sayreville Schools also now look forward to having their students participate in our annual Mother’s Day contest. Participation in 2023 also was record setting over 100 entries.

While we are extremely proud of all we did in 2023, what we are most proud of are the old relationships which were made stronger and new relationships formed. Our relationship with the school districts has resulted in a steady supply of volunteers at both fundraising events, the Christmas concert, the church cleaning and even at the Thrift Shop. Our outreach efforts with Sayreville school have led to avenues to offer aid through a new relationship with Interfaith-RISE. The seeds sown over the years have truly sprouted and our developing relationships in the community are evidence of this.

Thanks to all the members for their hard work, vision, and their commitment to the mission of WWP.
